Join the Capitol Hill Chorale as we begin our 33rd season with concerts featuring the works of Johann Sebastian Bach, Johann Christoph Friedrich Bach, and Michael Praetorius. We are also pleased to be joined by a full baroque orchestra led by concert master Dr. John Moran.
The program features two complementary settings of the German Lutheran hymn “Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme,” which translates to “Awake, the voice is calling us” and recalls the parable of the Ten Virgins from the Gospel of Matthew. All three composers interpreted the hymn and story; we will share the settings composed by Johann Christoph Friedrich Bach and Michael Praetorius.
The Chorale will also perform Johann Sebastian Bach’s Magnificat <more on Mag>
The baroque orchestra will perform Arcangelo Corelli’s Christmas Concerto <more on Christmas Concerto>
