On June 4, 2006, the Capitol Hill Chorale presented a complete performance of Peter Ilych Tchaikovsky’s Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom, Op. 41, under Artistic Director Frederick Binkholder. The performance was recorded and issued as a chorale CD, produced by Sterling Productions, Ltd. of Sterling, Virginia.
Tchaikovsky’s setting carries the full text of the Russian Orthodox Divine Liturgy for unaccompanied chorus, moving across thirteen movements from the opening Great Litany through the Cherubic Hymn, the Creed, and the Communion Hymn to the closing “Blessed is He that Comes in the Name of the Lord.”
