The Capitol Hill Chorale joined the Capital City Symphony, led by Artistic Director Victoria Gau, for “Together Again: Mozart & Brahms,” performed March 17, 2012, at Capitol Hill Presbyterian Church and March 18, 2012, at the Atlas Performing Arts Center. Frederick Binkholder, the Chorale’s Artistic Director, conducted the choral forces.
The program opened with Mozart’s Overture to Don Giovanni, K. 527, followed by Brahms’ Nänie, Op. 82, a choral-orchestral setting of Friedrich Schiller’s elegy “Auch das Schöne muß sterben.” After intermission, the Chorale and Symphony performed Mozart’s Requiem, K. 626, in its eight-movement traditional form, with four guest vocal soloists.
