Come join the Capitol Hill Chorale under the baton of its artistic director Frederick Binkholder in a concert of the folk music of Eastern Europe. The concert will feature Slaveya, a female a cappella ensemble and its famed artistic director Tatiana Sarbinska. Ms. Sarbinska has just received her first WAMMIE, an award from the Washington Area Music Association, for Outstanding World Music Vocalist.
At the concerts, you will hear the rich Slavic vocal heritage brought to life, including music reflecting the joys and constants of village life: harvest, war, courtship, loves, birth, and death. Join us at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 13 for a lecture by Mary Cliff, host of WETA-FM's Saturday night folk music program, Traditions.
