THE CHORALE
The Capitol Hill Chorale performs three
concerts a year. These concerts make up a season lasting from September
through June.
Auditions
The Chorale holds auditions at the beginning of each season and
occasionally throughout the year. These auditions consist of vocalization, sight reading, and pitch and rhythm recognition. Audition information and times
are published in The Washington Post and are posted on our website.
If you would like to be informed the next time auditions will be
held, or if you have questions about the audition process, please
e-mail us at audition at capitolhillchorale.org. Auditions for the 2007-2008 season will be held December 18th.
Rehearsals
The Chorale holds rehearsals every Tuesday
from 7:30 - 10:00 p.m. at the Lutheran Church of the Reformation,
212 E. Capitol St., NE. Rehearsal attendance is required for all
Chorale members. In addition, other sectional or optional rehearsals
may be scheduled as needed throughout the season.
Financial Obligation
The Chorale relies on dues from its singers for a significant portion
of its income. Base dues are $165 annually, which may be paid in
three installments. In addition, singers are responsible for purchasing
their own music. The cost of music averages $25-$40 per concert.
For singers on a limited income, partial sponsorships are available.
