JOINING THE CHORALE

Auditions

The Chorale holds auditions at the beginning of each season and occasionally throughout the year. These auditions consist of vocalization, sight reading, and pitch and rhythm recognition. Audition information is posted on this website. If you would like to be informed the next time auditions will be held, or if you have questions about the audition process or wish to request a time slot, please e-mail us at audition@capitolhillchorale.org. Please note: Auditions for the March 2010 concert are over, but feel free to email for more information and to be put on a list for future auditions.

Rehearsals

The Chorale holds rehearsals every Tuesday from 7:30 - 10:00 p.m. at the Lutheran Church of the Reformation, 212 E. Capitol St., NE. A vocal workshop or extended rehearsal is scheduled for one Saturday afternoon in each concert cycle. Attendance at these rehearsals is required for all Chorale members. In addition, sectional or other optional rehearsals may be scheduled as needed throughout the season.

Financial Obligations

The Chorale relies on dues from its singers to cover a significant portion of its expenses. Base dues are $165 annually, which may be paid in three installments of $55 each. In addition, singers are responsible for purchasing their own music. The cost of music averages $25-$40 per concert. For singers on a limited income, partial scholarships are available,in return for which the Chorale requests the singer to provide a certain number of hours of volunteer help.
